The Manassas Airshow and Open House is once again proud to be able to support the following non-profit groups:
CIVIL AIR PATROL
Prince William Composite Squadron, Virginia Wing
As the official United States Air Force Auxiliary, CAP is Congressionally mandated to carry out three missions – performing emergency services, encouraging aerospace education and conducting our Cadet program for those aged 12 to 21. Prince William is actively engaged in all three. Our cadets learn leadership and discipline, and can even train in operational specialties to work alongside adult members supporting our emergency services, search-and-rescue and disaster relief tasks. Based in the Manassas, Va., area, we are one of the largest CAP units in the Commonwealth. Some 130 officers, staff and cadets proudly volunteer to serve their community, state and nation. If you’d like to explore the challenge, please visit our squadron, talk to our members, and explore our website. For more information or detailed questions, visit princewilliamcap.org
FREEDOM MUSEUM
Our Mission is to honor those Americans who made the supreme sacrifice in defense of freedom, to pay tribute to those who served our country with honor and distinction and to provide a place for our young citizens to learn of their history and heritage. The Freedom Museum is staffed by a dedicated group of volunteers. No salaries are paid and all donations of time and money go directly to advancing the mission of the Museum. Many of these volunteers are walking artifacts and can tell you how their service made history. We are proud to be a Smithsonian Institution Affiliate, one of less than 180 local museums in 41 States, Puerto Rico, and Panama. The Museum is located in the terminal building at Manassas Airport (KHEF). For more information visit us at www.freedommuseum.org
VIRGINIA AIRBORNE SEARCH & RESCUE
The Virginia Airborne Search & Rescue Squad’s (VASARS) mission is to assist in the recovery of lost or distressed citizens, assist in the location and apprehension of suspected criminals/fugitives and locate lost Alzheimer patients or autistic children upon the request of any local, state or federal agency requiring “eyes in the sky.” VASARS will provide trained and certified flight crews to these agencies, at no cost to the taxpayer. VASARS will assist in any operation where a citizen may be in danger or a law enforcement need requires a helicopter for aerial support. Our highly trained and professional team of search & rescue pilots and flight officers volunteer their time flying to save lives. Additional information can be found at www.airbornesar.com
